AdornTide exists because jewelry shopping is unusually badly served by information. A buyer deciding between two gold-toned earrings is asked to choose on a photograph, a price and the word “quality”. The variables that actually determine whether a piece survives a year — base metal, plating method, coating thickness, closure construction — are either buried in a specification table, stated inconsistently across a brand’s own pages, or simply absent.
So we publish those variables, in tables, with sources and dates, and we mark the gaps honestly. Where a brand declines to state its coating thickness, that is the finding, and it is worth more to you than another adjective.
What we are not
We are not a testing lab and we do not pretend to be one. We have not bought these pieces and we do not claim first-hand wear experience. Read how we test for the full method and its limits — it is the most important page on the site.
Who writes this
AdornTide is an independent publication. Editorial decisions are not sold, and no brand has approval over what appears here.
